Apologies for this not being directly related to Nitrome or the Wiki, but I needed to get this off my chest.
So, to the point. I really like you guys! Almost all of you are kind, funny, and more hardworking then i'll probably ever be. There's only one thing bugging me though, and it's been reoccurring with a bunch of people I know: you're just too hard on yourselves!
Now i'm not saying everyone on the Wiki is like this, and i'm not trying to make anybody feel worse than they already do. Quite the opposite, actually. I just want to give some (hopefully) helpful tips to anyone who wants them. I hate seeing people have bad days, so I try to do anything I can to brighten them up :)
Tip #1: Try to be optimistic whenever you can! If you make a mistake or regret saying something, there's no reason to beat yourself up about it or assume that everyone hates you because of it. That's why we learn from our mistakes. And don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
Tip #2: Don't be afraid to be proud of yourself! I'm not talking about bragging or anything; if you feel like you just overcame a challenge, give yourself a pat on the back! Chances are if you think better of yourself, you'll ultimately do better.
Tip #3: Let your friends (any kind of friend, even family) help you out when they see you're having a hard time! Now, i'm mostly interested in this because i'm taking a film class, and we're working on a project all about this subject. It's a short movie about a boy who struggles with issues in his family, and (long story short) he realizes that even though he rejected his friends at first, they're willing to help him through his struggle. I think this is a good life lesson, and part of my inspiration for this blog post.
Well, I hope you all enjoyed my tips and took them to mind! I don't see being "too hard on yourself" as a flaw, more of a setback. I just think it's important to consider if you have say, anxiety problems. It's why I don't let myself bring myself down, and hope that other people aren't letting themselves bring themselves down too! ...Wait, what?
