Jelly Beanstalk is an unreleased Nitrome cellphone game. It was probably worked on a bit in 2004 or 2005. The player controls a jelly bean hunter and tries to feed a beanstalk with insects. The game was never released due to it not being finished.

Gameplay
Edit
The player could probably either control the boy or girl jellybean hunter. The aim of the game was to swat Insects and push them into the Beanstalk's mouth. The Beanstalk would then create platforms. Different bugs would make the Beanstalk grow in different ways.
The player had to do this while avoiding getting drowned by the rising Water. The Jellybeans are what is left of the killed Bugs. Collecting Beans would give the player points, and when all the Beans were collected, a power up was given to the player.

A description of the Jelly Beanstalk image was provided in John Annal's Deviant Art account:
"Mock-up shots for a mobile game called Jelly beanstalk. For all those who are interested the game concept goes as follows. There are two characters each wielding a giant flyswatter. The object of the game is to feed the eating plant at the bottom of the screen by swatting the various bugs and insects which then fall into its open mouth. The plant's neck then grows to make accessible platforms for players to progress jumping ledge to ledge/scrolling upwards. Different bugs make the neck grow in different directions, there are also time restrictions via the flooding water at bottom of level which steadly rises. The jellybeans left behind by squished bugs are for points and gain powerups for collecting all colours on a level. Now as some of you may be old enough to remember this is a bit of a slant on the classic rainbow islands, which is where I gathred a lot of my insperation from for this game. I did these a while ago but sadly never got round to develop the game...mebs oneday...sniff sniff."

Trivia
Edit
- Jelly Beanstalk used a lot of assets from future games like Feed Me!, Hot Air, Pest Control, and Skywire, plus some original content.
- J-J-Jump's concept is similar to Jelly Beanstalk's - both characters are trying to escape rising waters.
