Removing names and timestamps, can you guess the game these comments are about? Bullet points depict each individual comment.

  • Random Story Line....
  • There was once a duck
  • he was stupid.
  • and he was deathly afraid of soap
  • So one day he decided to get rid of all the soap in the world.

The "Random Story Line" chain is probably one of the most annoying chains seen on Nitrome game comments. Not only do people just spew whatever at the spur of the moment, but these comments are arguably difficult to filter out without hindering people from saying things like "story line" and soforth.

Most Nitromians probably remember one of the notorious chain comments that sounded like it came straight out of an email: paste this on 10 places and you will be kissed. Now the spammers throw Nitrome into the mix and add repercussions that can occur if you ignore the message.

We found one infamous one that basically flooded all the well known games, but now several are arising - some to combat spam, others that claim that "they are Nitrome" and really, it's just getting out of hand. Maybe to the point where filters aren't enough and Nitrome really needs to consider making comments less accessible for the general public.

I know we aren't Nitrome, but for the more sane part of the community, I was curious to get your thoughts on the matter. Is there anything Nitrome can change besides just filtering out the comments? Spam has many forms. I hope Nitrome gets the moderators they need soon. The occasional off topic thread would have been okay, but now they overpower comments that are actually related to the game. Like blog comments: ever wonder why there isn't a lot of significant spam there?  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 05:04, August 20, 2014 (UTC)
