Sarcophagi[1] are interactive objects in the game Temple Glider. There are two sarcophagi in the game - gold and black.

Appearance[]

Gold sarcophagus[]

The gold sarcophagus appears as a small, gold sarcophagus of a bird. In the middle of the sarcophagus, below the beak, is a purple jewel which (probably) contains the Egyptian bird's soul. A gold symbol is on the bird's head. Two canes stick out from either side of the sarcophagus, and a crest is on top over the bird's head.

Black sarcophagus[]

The black sarcophagus shares many similarities with the gold sarcophagus, except that the black version has black eyes, no cane sticks on either side and no crest.

Ending Sarcophagus

The bird inside the sarcophagus at the end of a level

The gold sarcophagus is what transports the Egyptian bird between levels. At the beginning of the level, the gold sarcophagus opens up to reveal the Egyptian bird inside- wrapped in paper like a mummy. The bird will open it's eyes and then opens up it's wings, ripping the wrapping around it. The bird then jumps out of the sarcophagus, which closes. To finish the level, the bird must find the second gold sarcophagus. When the bird touches it, the sarcophagus will open up, and the bird will fold it's wings and step inside. The sarcophagus will then close, ending the level.

Black sarcophagus[]

Purple Stages2

The black sarcophagus saves the amount of rings of light the player has collected, as well as acts as checkpoints during the game. When the Egyptian bird touches one, the player will respawn there when they die. If the bird flies past it and does not touch the sarcophagus they will start at the last sarcophagus they did touch, including the gold sarcophagus. The black sarcophagus saves the amount of rings of light the player has collected, as well

When the black sarcophagus is touched, the jewel in the middle will flash (probably indicating the bird's soul being transferred into the jewel), and a purple light will spread over the sarcophagus, and then disappear. After that, the eyes will momentarily flash purple. The process repeats every time the player touches the sarcophagus again after they have collected more rings of light.

When the bird dies, a purple sphere (which is probably its soul) will fly back to the the last sarcophagus and go back into the purple jewel. The jewel will light up, and the sarcophagus will open, to reveal the Egyptian bird inside- wrapped in paper like a mummy. The bird will open it's eyes and then opens up it's wings, ripping the wrapping around it. The bird then jumps out of the sarcophagus, which closes.
