Backgrounds are an aesthetic element of Magic Touch: Wizard for Hire that serve as the background of the game. Initially the player starts with the castle background, but can purchase more with accumulated coins.

Overview[]

Backgrounds customize the environment the player is in whenever they play the actual game. Each background comes with an animated background for the level, slightly changes the the towers with content related to the background, and adds objects on to the ground of the castle.

Despite being animated very little happens in the background. Additions to the ground of the castle also serve as the background, so the wizard or knights are not covered over. The towers of the castle appear largely the same. Each new background causes the bricks on the floor and the balcony to be lower than the ones on the castle background, though the wizard still stands at the same height.

Purchased backgrounds have a random chance of being the background of the level whenever the player starts the game.

The Beanstalk background can be purchased for 10000 coins. The background takes place in an area high up among the clouds.

The background is pink with white moving clouds in the background that move to the right and a large silhouette of a far away beanstalk also visible. All of the bricks in this level are lighter in colour than in the castle background.

The floor of the castle has (from left to right) a stem of a bean plant with a bean on it, a giant fork sticking into the ground, a bean plant steam behind the balcony, a bean pod on the ground with visible beans inside, a giant shoe on its side facing the player, two beans, and another bean plant in the background.

The animated parts of this skin are the clouds in the background and the bean plants, the clouds slowly moving right and the bean plants slightly moving, shaking whenever a knight hits the ground.

Gunbrick[]

Penguin 1

The Gunbrick background can be purchased for # coins. The background takes place in the city, the location of Pack 1 of Gunbrick mobile, only influenced by the medieval theme seen in Magic Touch Wizard for Hire. The entire background is primarily yellow and grey/light purple.

The background of the background has four layers of silhouettes of buildings, three that are a shade of yellow, the layer closest to the player being a shade of purple. The the farthest back layer is light yellow with clouds higher up that are of a lighter yellow-white colour. The layer is front of this is of a darker yellow colour and has mostly flat-top buildings but also one with two spires.

The layer in front of this is larger and has a few buildings high up but also a few lower down, the higher up buildings being a building with a spire and a building with a castle-like balcony with an antennae; there is a visible railroad running through these buildings.

The final layer is a purple colour, with the tops of many buildings visible, most visible being the large telephone pole with telephone wires attached to it. The castle the player is on has light purple brick instead of grey brick, rods and a windows being placed on the brick part of the towers, an exposed motherboard on the right tower, and a host of Gunbrick denizens on the ground.

The ground of the tower contains (from left to right) a bird on the far left balcony, a cube brick gunbrick house, a Gunbrick with a cannon inside that stick out of the top of it, a bird with glasses on top of the Gunbrick, and a Kitty Cat Brick with a cat on it. The brick gunbrick house has a Pack 1 gargoyle on top, a wooden door on the house, and a piece of metal attached to the house that has a bird on top and a potted plant with blue flowers attached to the metal.

The animated parts of the background are the clouds in the farthest back background and a Gunbrick that will roll across the screen on the railroad.

Unused content[]

The background of the Gunbrick background is larger than what is seen on the screen, rendering part of the background unused, and even part of the used background unused as details are covered up by the castle towers.

The Magma background is a reference to Bowsers castle. It includes creatures that reference Chain Chomps[1] and Piranha Plants. The background was partly based off the idea of a video game platformer castle[1].
