Spells are special abilities in Magic Touch: Wizard for Hire that can be purchases from the shop. Spells are used in the game to aid the player in improving their high score or making it easier.

Spells[]

There are a total of eight spells, which can be bought with coins earned during the game. They can be activated when the symbols for that spell appears either in a bubble or when obtained from a potion.

A spell obtained from a potion will appear as a book at the bottom right side of the screen and can be activated at any time, and if that same symbol appears in a bubble the bubble will take priority over the obtained spell.

Hourglass[]

The hourglass spell is activated by drawing a spiral.

Spoiler
This spell will slow everything down for a short amount of time, slowing down other knights as well but allowing the player to draw at full speed.

Lightning[]

The lightning spell is activated by drawing the lightning symbol.

Spoiler
When used an enormous lightning bolt will appear and destroy everything on screen, including breaking treasure chests and potions, causing the player to receive their contents. This spell will also effect some knights above the screen.

Fire[]

The fire spell is activated by drawing a heart.

Spoiler
When activated it will create a sea of fire at the bottom of the stage, killing the first knight that lands on the castle, and remains until one knight lands on the fire or once the forward spell is used. After one knight is killed this way, after two seconds the fire ends. The fire is able to kill multiple knights at once as long as there are knights who are also about to land.

Cannons[]

The cannons spell is activated by drawing "M".

Spoiler
When activated two cannons will rise up from between the towers of the castle and begin to slowly fire bombs. These bombs can destroy balloons and also kill knights, however, if a knight is killed by being impacted by a bomb it does not increase the player's score, and bombs cannot harm potions or the balloons on them. If a knight's balloon is popped and while falling it is hit by a bomb, the player will still gain a point from that knight.

This spell will end after a certain amount of bombs are shot.

Changes[]

  • Update 4 - This update changes the symbol's colour from gold yellow into green

Frog[]

The frog spell is activated by drawing "Ω", the Greek letter Omega.

Spoiler
When activated this spell will turn all knights on the screen into frogs. Knights as frogs cease to move downwards and will become stationary for a short amount of time, after which they will slowly float upwards. Also, killing a knight as a frog will yield ten coins instead of the regular four when a non-frog knight is killed. This spell is good in making bigger combos, when there are at least two knights with same balloons.

Changes[]

  • Update 4 - This update change the symbol's colour from green to red

Fast forward[]

The fast forward spell is activated by drawing "𝜑", the lowercase Greek letter Phi.

Spoiler
When activated the spell will create a blue spiky aura around the ground of the castle and time will be greatly sped up for a short period of time, causing knights to impact this aura and die. Treasure chests encountered during this period will also be sped up as well, causing them to become unobtainable if they go off the screen when the spell is still active as they move to quickly to be obtained.

The end of this spell will pop the balloons of all knights on and a bit above the screen, causing them to fall to their death. Also, the spell can cause some treasure chests to move across the screen but be partly above the screen, though they can still be obtained if they still visible when the spell ends.

The fast forward spell will end the effect of the following spells if they are currently being used: gun hat, and unicorn.

Balloon Nuke[]

The Balloon Nuke[1] spell is activated by drawing "N".

Spoiler
When activated this spell will first destroy all knights and potions on the screen and from then on until the spell ends balloons will flash and whenever the player draws the symbol on a balloon, it will explode and shoot off fireballs diagonally in four directions.

If these fireballs impact any knight it will kill it but not pop its balloons and grants no points, the exception to this being if the knight is a grey knight with two balloons, whereupon the player will still receive points. If the fireballs impact a balloon it will pop, kill the knight, and the popped balloon will shoot off fireballs diagonally in four directions as if it had been popped by drawing a symbol. These fireballs can also break treasure chests.

Fireballs will not break potions or the balloon of potions, however, during this spell potions can be destroyed by just popping their first balloon.

Activating this spell will stop fast forward's effect.

Changes[]

  • Update version - This update removed the Balloon Nuke spell's ability of potentially doubling the amount of potions encountered during the duration of the spell.
  • Update 1 - This update changes the Balloon Nuke spell so that during it only the first balloon on potions has to be destroyed.

Dragon[]

The Dragon[1] spell is activated by drawing "W".

Spoiler
When the spell is activated a portal and a large egg will appear, the egg subsequently hatching and killing all knights on screen and also destroying all potions and granting the player the spell contained by that potion.

For as long as the portal is active, the player can draw a path and the dragon will follow it, killing any knight or breaking any treasure chests and potions on contact and moving off the screen upon reaching the end of its path. Killed knights will count towards the player's score.

When the dragon is present, any lines drawn, even if they correspond to a symbol on a balloon balloons, will be interpreted as the path for a dragon that it will subsequently move on to it, and not pop any balloon.

If the Dragon spell is active around the time a king would enter the screen, the king's entrance will be delayed until the end of the spell.

Two dragons can appear on screen, the second appearing if the player draws a path while the first dragon is still on the screen. After the dragon has moved around a lot on the screen, the portal will disappear and the dragon will leave, though the player is able to draw as long line as they can before the portal disappear.

The best way to take advantage of the Dragon spell is for the player to draw a big long spiral. If the spiral is too small, some knights are able to dodge the dragon.

Changes[]

  • Update 1 - This update changes the Dragon spell so that potions can be destroyed at any time.

Gun hat[]

The gun hat spell is activated by drawing a triangle (Δ).

Spoiler
This spell will turn the wizard's hat into a bullet firing hat that fires magical bullets upwards. Every time the hat fires, the wizard will make a facial expression by opening his eyes. The player will be able to move the wizard by drawing/touching any place of the screen directly above the area they want him to move.

While knights are immune to bullets, these bullets will destroy their balloons. Bullets do not affect the balloons attached to potions. The spell will end after a certain amount of bullets are fired, but it can be ended immediately via use the of the forward spell.

Variations

Each wizard has their own unique animation and method for using this spell: Wicked Witch of N7 glares with her left eye, Fairy shoots bullets from her star, Merlin will open his mouth, the Fortune Teller shoots bullets with her mind, Druid shoots bullets with his branch horns, The Owl Curse spits bullets from his mouth, Barry the Scholar shoots with his scar, Gene the Genie shoots bullets from his emerald, Crazy Cat Lady's cat spits bullets, Jinxed cat shoots with her eyes, the top of Magician's top hat's opens and fires bullets, Leprechaun's hat shoots bullets, the red top of Invizi Bill's hat fires bullets, Voodoo Shaman's feathers separates and fires bullets behind his head (with a skull visible during the firing), Medusa's snake hair shoots bullets, The Skull's head fires bullets, causing his head turn pink when doing so; Shaolin Monk's necklace spawns bullets, Evil Warlock's bullets comes from the hole between his horns, The Psychic's bullets comes from his brains and Gunbrick dude uses his Gunbrick to shoot bullets.

Unicorn[]

The Unicorn[2] spell is activated by drawing a cursive lowercase L (ℓ).

Spoiler
When activated, this spell summons two winged unicorns with gold helmets that will each go to an area below middle edge of the screen and create a rainbow colored line with X2 mark on the center of the beam. Also, all knights on and a little bit above the screen are killed and all potions are destroyed and grant the player their contents. This spell causes all knights who have all their balloons popped above the line and would yield a single point to give two points instead. If a knight with balloons touches the line, the effect will end. The effect will also end when the forward spell is used.
