This article is about robots from Toxic series. For robots from other games, please see Robots.

Fly robots are enemies that appear in the game Toxic II.

Appearance[]

The head of a fly robot is made up of two upper hexagonal parts of metal, with a semi-triangular part below those two.

In the inner space made by the three metal parts are three pink eyes, with two on the bottom and one on top. Above the head of the fly robot is a constantly rotating propeller, which keep the fly robot up. Below its head are four legs and a stinger.

Game information[]

Fly robots will fly around the level. When the Hazmat Hero gets near to them, or them near to the character, they will continue to fly but differently; always moving towards the Hazmat Hero. When they get directly above the Hazmat Hero, they will spread their legs out and drop down, trying to hit the character with their stinger. This is quite easy to avoid, but since the fly robot flies around, going to different heights, it is harder to avoid the more lower the enemy is.

They are difficult to kill, as the player has to place a bomb before the fly robot gets in its position to attack. Since all bombs in Toxic II take five seconds to explode, the bomb often explodes when the fly robot is out of its blast range. They appear very rarely, and can be a nuisance when the Hazmat Hero goes into small areas or areas with many fly robots. This situation is especially apparent in secret level 7.1: Swarm.

A good strategy that the player can use to kill fly robots is to place a ledge bomb (if any) above the Hazmat Hero's head. The robot will then try to land on him, but will be intercepted by the bomb. Then, the bomb will explode, destroying the robot.

Trivia[]

  • This enemy might be based of off Skrees from the Metroid series. They share very similar attack abilities.
