Breakable blocks Flying platforms Moving blocks Jump bubbles Springs Bouncy blocks Teleporters Conveyor belts Switch blocks

Gates[]

Gates appear in both Leap Day games and appear as gold rectangles stacked on top of each other. In Super Leap Day, they sometimes have a keyhole. In Leap Day, they appear on the checkpoint floors in the main level blocking the entrance to the checkpoint room and will open when the player enters this floor. In Super Leap Day, they block off access to parts of the level and are removed in different ways depending on the situation: by pressing small buttons or unlocking it with a key.

Breakable blocks[]

Breakable blocks are encountered in Leap Day and Super Leap Day and appear as grey squares with a lightning crack going through them, indicating that they can be broken. In this game they only appear in 1x1 sizes and can only be destroyed by the player by jumping on the underside of the block. They are usually found in straight horizontal lines, so that the player has to pierce through them in order to progress further. They also can be found stacked on multiple layers. At least two breakable blocks next to each other need to be destroyed in order for the player to go through a layer. In Leap Day this can be done easily by jumping under a block and by tapping jump once more right as the character hits the first block. The protagonist will then perform a double jump and break two blocks next to each other.

In Super Leap Day, breakable blocks can contain silver coins and can also be encountered in 2x2 and 2x1 sizes.

Yellow breakable blocks[]

Yellow breakable blocks appear only in Super Leap Day. They appear as yellow stone blocks with a star on them, and are destroyed by hitting them from below. They can contain silver coins and power-ups. These blocks are placed in small numbers embedded underneath platforms, and often are not placed directly in the player's way like destructible blocks. They are encountered in 2x2 and 1x1 sizes.

Silver blocks[]

Silver blocks appear in both Leap Day games and appear as silver-coloured blocks that point towards the screen. In Leap Day they appear in all themes in 2x1, 2x2, and 4x4 sizes and function as normal platforms. In Super Leap Day, jumping into them from below will cause them to bounce slightly upward, which can kill enemies who are standing on the block.

Flying platforms[]

Flying platforms are light orange platforms with a spinning propeller below. The moving variant has plain colours while the hovering variant has a red underside and black stripes. Due to their rather small size, flying platforms can be hard to reach and use in specific situations. Multiple platforms can be placed next to each other, essentially working like a larger platform.

Moving platforms will follow a constant moving cycle, going back and forward horizontally or vertically in the air. Hovering platforms, on the other hand, will not move but rather will stay in place in the air. Whenever the player steps on hovering platforms, these platform will fall down and disappear. They will instantly reappear after a cooldown of five seconds, regardless of the player's death.

Moving blocks[]

Moving blocks are very similar to slam blocks, essentially working as their harmless counterpart. Like them, they are square blocks made out of a stone material with an outside trim, and have a face with a large nose and two hollow eyes.

Moving blocks are typically found in groups, all following a specific pattern. They move back and forth between two positions in a straight line at a slow pace. Although they often appear square, they can sometimes be rectangular. Multiple moving blocks can form a cluster, essentially working like a large multi-part obstacle moving on a cycle. In End Zones, these blocks can also move diagonally, like Spiked slam blocks.

Jump bubbles[]

Jump bubbles are floating transparent bubbles with an orange arrow pointing upwards inside them. They are often found floating in the air in groups. If the protagonist touches one, he will be propelled upwards and can make an additional double jump after propulsion. They are often arranged in chains, so that touching one will cause the protagonist to run into nearby ones. Jump bubbles disappear when touched, but will respawn after a cooldown of six seconds, regardless of the player death.

Springs[]

Normal springs[]

Normal springs in Leap Day are large red pads mounted on a metal wire spring. In Super Leap Day the pad can also be encountered in gold. They can face any direction and are typically connected to walls. Two springs can also appear facing adjacent to each other, and at times, may be situated among spike covered surfaces. If the protagonist lands on the face of a spring, he will bounce off in the opposite direction. Springs push the protagonist a farther distance than a regular jump. The other sides of a spring will behave like a normal solid surface. Bouncing on a spring will reset the player's jump, but not their momentum. This means that if the player uses a double jump before touching the spring, they are able to use yet another simple and double jump after bouncing on it without having to touch a platform or a wall.

In End Zones, normal springs can also be found placed on ceilings, granting the player the ability to fall straight without hitting any walls. In Super Leap Day, not all normal springs bounce the player up the same height.

Jungle springs[]

Two variations of springs appear in the Forest theme in Leap Day:

  • Red flower springs bounce the player higher than normal springs.
  • Blue flower springs kill the player after they jump into them.

Green springs[]

Green springs are introduced in Super Leap Day and consists of a green pad and green diagonal beams. They bounce the player up higher than a normal spring.

Blue springs[]

Needed: How are they different from other springs?

Blue springs appear only in Super Leap Day and bounce the player up.

Bouncy blocks[]

Bouncy blocks are bumpy and grey coloured, and generally constitute portions of walls and platforms. On contact, bouncy blocks cause the protagonist to slightly rebound off their surface and not grab and slide down them like normal walls. The wall type essentially work like a wall that cannot be slid on or wall-jumped from, as they will turn the protagonist around while keeping their momentum. They are rarely found as platforms, and in this form they will cause a small bounce upwards, after which they can be walked on. Bouncy blocks will not reset the player's jump, meaning that if the player has used a double jump before touching the side of a bouncy wall, they will not gain another double jump after bouncing off of it.

Teleporters[]

Teleporters are either wall or floor elements composed of a solid metal frame with a coloured teleporter inside. The teleporter itself can appear either blue, orange or green and is made up of coloured rays. Green teleporters do not have frames, and are always on both sides of the screen, positioned vertically.

Teleporters can be encountered serving as walls or floors, and can vary in length. There is no real limit to how large a teleporter can be, but it is always big enough for the player to easily fit through it. There are always exactly two teleporters of one colour in a proximate region to each other. Entering one teleporter will make the protagonist leave through the other, and vice versa.

The player has to enter a teleporter from its front side, as all other sides will act as normal walls. More than two teleporters can appear in the same section, hence their colour coding. Although they can be placed in varied positions, it is not possible for a vertical teleporter to be linked to an horizontal one, and vice versa, except in End Zones. Entering a teleporter will reset the player's jump, but not their momentum. This means that if the player uses a double jump to enter a teleporter, they are able to use yet another simple and double jump after leaving the teleporter, without having to touch a platform or a wall.

Conveyor belts[]

Conveyor belts are encountered in both Leap Day games and appear as dark brown horizontal platforms with small light brown rectangles on them. They are constantly rotating to one side, like regular conveyor belts. They will push whichever entity steps on them into one side. If the player steps on a conveyor belt while facing the direction they are going towards, their speed will be greatly increased. However, if they are facing the opposite direction, their speed will be lowered. Conveyor belts only affect the player on their top side, and will act like normal obstacles on the underside.

In Super Leap Day, conveyor belts can appear oriented vertically on walls.

Switch blocks[]

Switch blocks appear in both Leap Day games. In Leap Day, they appear to be made out of some kind of metal and all have a large white ! exclamation mark on them. There are always two variants paired together: dark pink and light blue. In Super Leap Day they appear the same but with a square indentation instead of an exclamation mark. They also have an associated switch, which appears as a lever attached to a grey wheel that is fastened to a wall by a grey ball. The lever is round at the top and the inner part of the wheel is coloured half blue and half red. The top of the level is coloured blue or red depending on the active colour.

In Leap Day, all the switch blocks of the same colour will be activated at a given time, while all the blocks of the other colour will be deactivated. They will act like solid obstacles when activated, often serving as platforms or as walls the player can jump from. Each time the player performs a jump, wall-jump or double jump, all blocks will switch state at once. This means that the player has to time their jump correctly in order to use switch blocks as platforms, in order to not fall through them, or hit them when the blocks become solid.

In Super Leap Day, their activation is handled by a switch, which when touched by the player or an enemy will activate one colour and deactivate the other. Along with platforms, gold coins can also appear coloured red and blue and will activate or deactivate depending on which colour is active. If the player is in a space that has an outline of a block and it becomes solid, the player will die.

Yolk cannons[]

Yolk cannons[1][2], also known as Human Cannons[3] are interactive objects in both Leap Day games. Yolk cannons able to shoot characters in a straight direction. They can also move along paths and be mixed with other objects[4]. Nitrome mentions that aiming at proper angles and timing play a large part in using these interactive objects[4]. Yolk cannons are found either rotating 360 degrees or in different angles. Some of them move. Yolk cannons do not protect the player from hazards if the cannon's path goes through hazards.

In Super Leap Day, yolk cannons do not have the Yolk design and instead appear as a metal cannon coloured grey at the front and gold at the back. They retain their main behaviour from Leap Day. Some yolk cannons will rotate once the player enters them.

Sticky Slime[]

Sticky Slime[3][1] is lime green coloured and has bubbles on it.

Sticky Slime will cause the player to stop moving and stick to where they touched the slime. Jumping will free the player. Moving blocks can be coated with Sticky Slime and there are also small Sticky Slime blocks. Sometimes Slam Blocks can pass through Sticky Slime.

Magical switches[]

Mechanical Suit1 This section is lacking an image. You can add one to the section!

Magical switches[3] appear in Leap Day and Super Leap Day. In both games that appear as dome shaped buttons with a white exclamation mark on them. Under the buttons is grey metal. Timer tiles[5] are transparent blocks that initially spawn with liquid that slowly depletes. In Leap Day, the buttons and liquid are coloured purple, but in Super Leap Day they can be coloured purple and green.

In both games magical switches will cause game components to temporarily appear. All game components are transparent and filled with a certain liquid that slowly depletes, which upon depleting disappears. In Leap Day only timer tiles appear while in Super Leap Day timer tiles, spikes, and coin pieces appear. When coin pieces appear, 7 of them spawn, which when collected yield a gold coin. If the timer runs out before they are all collected, all collected coin pieces are lost.

Ice[]

Ice appears as white, shiny platforms.

Ice platforms will boost the player's speed when clinging to walls or moving on platforms. Performing a double jump on a wall will cause the player to greatly ascend up the wall. Ice Chargers also move faster when on these platforms.

Snow[]

Mechanical Suit1 This section is lacking an image. You can add one to the section!

Snow is white and appears in blocks. When damaged, it will appear circular.

Snow works like breakable blocks, but it can be destroyed also by walking on it. There can be fruits and spikes hidden under snow. Cross spikes can be found in them, these hazards being like normal spikes but not attached to walls.

Gray snow[]

Gray snow is introduced in the Magma theme. After player attached it destroy all gray snow and can be created by skull cauldrons.

Hot air balloons[]

Mechanical Suit1 This section is lacking an image. You can add one to the section!

Hot air balloons[6] will remain stationary until the player lands in their gondola, whereupon the balloons will rise upward. The player will not move while inside the gondola and can jump out any time and will do so in the direction they are facing. The player can also move the balloon. Candle soldiers can also be found in Hot air balloons.

Alien bouncers[]

Alien bouncers[7] are interactive objects. They are green circles with eight small green circles surrounding them. They have two white eyes and a small dark green nose.

Alien bouncers will bounce the player (or force them forward when they aren't in the air) upon making contact with them. They can be used to give a boost or get across an area with ease.

Bumpers[]

Mechanical Suit1 This section is lacking an image. You can add one to the section!

Bumpers[8] are objects that bounce the player with great speed when touched. They can be found circular or triangular. Circular bumpers have a star in the middle of them. Bumpers can be different sizes. Unlike alien bouncers, bumpers do not move. When boosted, the character can then perform a regular jump.

Flippers[]

Mechanical Suit1 This section is lacking an image. You can add one to the section!

Flippers[8] are similar to bumpers, appearing in the Casino World theme. They flip whenever the player jumps. When a flipper is flipped, and the player is on it, they player will be launched. They can be positioned vertically or horizontally.

Mud[]

Mechanical Suit1 This section is lacking an image. You can add one to the section!

Mud has a brown-gray color, and it drips at the bottom of the mud. Mud can vary in shape and size. When the character jumps into the mud, it starts to slowly sink in the mud. If the character jumps while in the mud, it will perform a small jump.

Screw blocks appear in Super Leap Day and planned for release in Leap Day. In Super Leap Day, they appear as a grey block with a green hole in them and prevent the player for wall sliding. When they are touched by the player a cylinder will screw out of them until the player stops touching them, whereupon they will retract back in.

Loops[]

Loops were introduced in Super Leap Day and appear as a gold circle attached to the floor, wall, or ceiling. A version attached to a propeller moves vertically. The player character will hold on to one upon coming in contact with one, which allows them to immediately stop if it is attached to the ground or hold on to them if on the ceiling or flying vertically. The player can cease holding them by tapping, whereupon they will continue moving if it is on the floor or jump if it is on the ceiling/flying vertically.

Treasure chests[]

Treasure chests are encountered in Super Leap Day and appear as a treasure chest with gold borders and made of green wood. Treasure chests and encountered stationary and when opened can contain gold coins or power-ups. Two variants exist: one that is flying and one that is locked. Treasure chests can contain one coin, three coins, or a power-up.

Small buttons[]

Small buttons are encountered in Super Leap Day. They appear as a block the size of 1x1 small block that is coloured gold with a red orb in the middle and a red button on one side. These buttons are always attached to other small 1x1 gate blocks. When the button on the small block is pressed, the button block and all the gate blocks will sequentially explode.

Large buttons[]

Large buttons are encountered in Super Leap Day. They are the size of a 2x1 small block and appear as a red button with a grey base. Each large button is tied to a block with an "x" on it, which will move when the large button is pressed. While moving, the "x" on the block will light up. Some large buttons are pressure sensitive. Jumping will cause the player to jump off in the direction they were facing. Some bamboo have twists in them that when passed over by the player or helmet beetles will rotate them to face the opposite direction. Bamboo is usually encountered stationary but can be encountered attached to moving platforms. Spiders can reside on Bamboo and will flip around twists.

Exits out of pipes can either be covered by a manhole cover or exposed. When going out of an exposed pipe the player will be hurled in the direction they are moving.

Enlarged parts act the same as multi-direction parts, except the player can only go in one direction.

Wall-running panels[]

Wall-running panels appear in Super Leap Day in the Capital Highway theme. These panels appear as metal panels constructed with green metal that have a grey spot in the middle. These panels allow the player to run on walls, curves, and ceilings. The following interactive objects can be placed on these panels:

Two types of construction platforms are encountered in-game, rail construction platforms and red light construction platforms. Rail construction platforms are attached to purple rails in the background and will move to another part of the rail when touched.

Red light construction platforms often have red lights on the top and when touched the red lights will flash and the platform will move. These platforms can either move only either horizontally or only vertically. Spikes and normal springs can be present on these platforms. These platforms are sometimes encountered in such a way where touching one platform will cause all nearby ones to move.

Dynamite[]

Dynamite appears in Super Leap Day and is planned to appear in Leap Day. In Super Leap Day, it appears as sticks of dynamite with a fuse and tied around with rope that has an exclamation mark on it.
