This article is about beetles from Flightless. For beetles from other games, please see Beetles.

Beetles are enemies in the game Flightless. there are three different types of beetles: green beetles, spiked beetles, and purple beetles.

General appearance[]

They all have skull like faces, beady orange eyes, and four stick-like legs. They also have a mouth with two tooth-like bumps in it, similar to most other known enemies in Flightless.

Green beetles[]

Green beetles are a type of beetle encountered in Flightless, first found in the demo.

Appearance[]

Green beetles have, like their name suggests, a green shell. Otherwise their appearance is the same as other beetle types.

Game information[]

Green beetles simply patrol back and forth on the platform they are on. They can be destroyed by landing on them, and give a small boost upwards upon killing one. Often, they move back and fourth on platforms, typically. There low speed make them easy to avoid and kill.

Spiked beetles[]

This section contains content seen in pre-release material regarding Flightless. Thus, this section may not describe all the content relating to this subject in this game, until the game has been released.

Spiked beetles are a variation of beetle seen only in the Flightless video (not the trailer) on the front page of Nitrome.com. They will presumably appear in the full version of Flightless.

Appearance[]

Beetles appear like regular beetles, only with an orange back that has spikes.

Game information[]

It is not entirely known what behaviour the spiked beetle will have. The presence of spikes on its back indicate it cannot be jumped on to be killed. As seen in the video on Nitrome.com, it can be killed by having a twisted ladder shot into it. It is possible a ladder that impacts a spiked beetle will also kill it. The spiked beetles appear on the right side of the Flightless minisite.

Purple beetle[]

The purple beetle is a type of beetle seen only on the right side of the Flightless minisite.

Appearance[]

The purple beetle is bigger than the previous two beetle, and has a bigger face, a big purple back with spikes on it, and possibly bigger legs.

Game information[]

Nothing is known about the purple beetle's involvement in Flightless - whether it is a regular enemy or a boss. Possibly it will be a boss, due to its increased size being typical of boss characters. The spikes on its back indicate it cannot be harmed/killed by being jumped on
