Happy editing! -- NOBODY (Talk) 20:13, September 16, 2011

Welcome![]

Hi Emitewiki2! Welcome to the wiki! I see you've known Nitrome since Jack Frost, longer then I've known Nitrome. I found the Lego Star Wars wiki some times ago, and dropped in to revert vandalism and tag articles with Template:Deletion, and alerted the founder of the custom lego stuff. I'm working on trying to rewite all the pages on the wiki that needs rewriting, as the entire wiki is a mess. Happy editing! --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 21:32, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Look pretty good. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 22:32, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Oops! Sorry, I thought it moved the slider to the left, but I guess I closed the tab I was one to quickly to notice I had turned it into a gallery. I'll revert the edit. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 22:52, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

New Icons[]

It's easier in this page. Only save in your computer and upload. {C}--I'm SantiagoIcon González 11:13, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

RE:???WHY???[]

Because it wasn't up to date with the Nitrome 2.0 pictures. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 01:32, September 19, 2011 (UTC)

Captures[]

Your captures aren't good. You have to erase all around the thing that tou want to put in an article. Use, for example, Paint and fiil with white around the thing. You can see an example in my User Image, that is in the Nitrome 2.0 (Skin) as a "Fault Line truck".

--I'm SantiagoIcon González 10:50, September 19, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, to be honest, I don't think what Santiago González Martín was entirely true. Some pictures with the backgrounds intact are necessary (like for instance, capturing a picture of wind). I think the problem is more related in how you save the pictures you upload. I noticed most of your uploads are JPG files, meaning they end with the extension ".jpg". This quality isn't the greatest for screen captures because it blurs the lines of pixels images and the picture won't look as awesome as it was meant to be. Try saving your pictures in a "png" file format or "gif". This will help keep the quality of the pictures you upload. I don't think I can tell you exactly how to do this because it depends on the type of program you use. Usually, if you go to the area where you type in a name for the picture, you can select what file type to save the image as. I used to upload my images as "jpg" files, but trust me, they do look bad. (Check out the enemies pages from Template:Fat Cat. Random-StoryKeeper 22:51, September 22, 2011 (UTC)

Teaching you[]

Materials: Snipping Tool (maybe you have this program in your computer), and Paint (or maybe photoshop, or other program).

  1. Use Snipping Tool to copy the image.
  2. Click on "Select" in Paint and paste the image.
  3. Zoom up. You can see the pixels.
  4. Use the paint can to fill the background and other things with white.
  5. In narrow parts, you have to use the white pencil (rubber is too big).
  6. Click "Select" and move the image to the left and up tops.
  7. Take small the background (NOT the image), to the right and down tops of the image.
  8. Zoom down, and see the image.

If you have problems, you can ask me.

P.S. I'm spanish and I don't write english good. Do you understand all?

--SantiIcon Zapo-- 15:28, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

RE: :)[]

If you can save, OK, but if you want to paint around with white, you have to copy and paste on paint. I say, for example, the Magneboy tower.

Good work![]

Good work adding all those images Emitewiki2! Your a new contributor, and your not spamming for badges. Good work! About the green guy's page. It does not have a name yet, so it has been given the name Untitled Descent Game. Until it receives a name, that name will be its name. I had to merge your Nitrome 2.0 characters page into the Nitrome 2.0 Skin page. Everything that was in the gallery (even the images that link to the articles) are now on the 2.0 page. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 13:45, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

  • 1: The Images
    • I removed the images becuase, well, there were already images ion the article.
  • 2: The Sections
    • I removed the sections becuase I had already explained it in the article. I had explained that when the Human Piloted Nanobot enters a Mutator, it gets transformed into another form. I also had what form the Mutators transform the Nanobot into. It seemed a bit redundant to have sections on something that was already explained/ That's why.

Name[]

First, I'm not Gonzalos, "González Martín" are my surnames, you can call me "Santi" if you prefer.

Replacing[]

Why you replaced my uploaded icons, if there are new icons?

Game icons[]

Save and upload game icons is very simple. Only you have to put the name (without cappital letters or spaces) in "hotair" in this link:

http://cdn.nitrome.com/images/thumbnails/ico_hotair.png

You haven't to use the Snipping Tool, only save the image in your computer.

RE:Images[]

Thanks for the images, I'll be able to find a use for all of them. I'm sorry what you worked on was deleted. Through my 3 years of being on the Nitrome Wiki, I have, rarely, had something I've been writing deleted. I was writing Template:Space Hopper, and while doing something else, my Dad turned off the computer I was writing on, erasing all my work. I was writing an article about Canary, and I accidentally closed the page. I was going to press SHIFT, then W, but instead of pressing SHIFT, I pressed CTRL instead, and unknown to most people Ctrl + W in Windows XP (and Windows 7) is a keyboard shortcut to close the browser. I was one writing a Walkthrough for level 2 of Frost Bite, and I accidentally pressed Ctrl + W. It happened again with List of Hazards in Canopy, on the Glitches page, and many more times. I know how you feel. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 23:04, October 2, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Carrot Story[]

Wikia was super slow, which is why this message came in late. All the games in Mega Mash have been merged into one article, so whatever you would like to do for the Carrot Story article, you will have to put it into the Carrot Story section. Just write in the section as you would write the article. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 21:11, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Are you sure?[]

Place what you want on the page. If it is big enough, I will split all the games into separate articles. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 23:50, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

RE:How?[]

Place {{WIP|Emitewiki2}} at the top of pages you are currently editing. This will make the template. However, it only displays the name of the page, and cannot be made to display a section. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 01:23, October 5, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Questions[]

1[]

Which one do you mean? This one or This one which can be made really long?

2[]

The moving images are called gifs. They are made by using a program (Gimp2 for example). To make gifs. in Gimp2, you make a slideshow of the images then go through them very quickly. I am awful at making gifs, but I've seen other people make them and they look great. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 21:44, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Super random!![]

That is very very strange. I was once playing Twang, and my internet went off (not my computer, my internet connection. Meaning, I was unable to browse the internet). I was playing Twang, and started one level, and the entire screen was filled up with water. The Twang ball wasn't even on the screen, and I could here it losing health, it was probably drowning. Anyway, that is very weird glitch. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 21:48, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

Hey emite, just thought I'd say hi on your talk page. This wiki has turned out to be a lot of fun. (especially adding pictures :D) I'm currently ranked #17 on this wiki and rising >:D. This afternoon, I've edited about 30 articles, and added 8 pictures so far. That snipping tool works great, and its also really easy to use, so i shall add more pictures in time. Well, thats about all I have to say, just thanks for showing me this wiki, and good luck with your mad editing skills.

RE:Castle Corp[]

I know, it looks awful. It would be great if we could do a community project, if we had a community. We don't have that many users. One thing I'm trying to do is to rewrite all the awful and bad articles which make the Nitrome Wiki look awful. When all the articles have been rewritten, then we could do a community project.

P.S: Template Rustyard is more worse than Castle Corp. {C}

{C}--I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 22:19, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

Well, in terms of edits, we don't really have a big community. Due to School, users cannot edit the wiki every day (at least most of them). Random and Santi edit an average of twice per week, TinyCastleGuy a Axiy a little less. Me, you, and your cousin seem to be the only ones who edit on a daily basis. So I guess you could start a project, except I wouldn't be able to join since I have to finish Mega Mash, Steamlands, and then all the other articles.

P.S: I never even though Hyperscore was your cousin. I tried to get my sister into editing the wiki, but she just quit soon after joining. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 22:34, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

Is NOBODY crazy? Santi edits almost every day, a lot more than I can ever expect to edit in the next years to come. You should totally start a project if you want to, though it requires a lot of leadership (and a leader who can be active on a regular basis). Random-StoryKeeper 23:11, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Emitewiki2! I noticed how you placed a whole bunch of images on pages. What you didn't know was that those characters were from a fan made background, not made by Santi, but by BOBA7SK, who submitted the Skin to Nitrome, and it was seen in the Fans collumn of the blog. I don't blame you for placing them on pages, you didn't know. I had to revert every single image, as fan images are not allowed. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 23:45, October 14, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Problem[]

I have sometimes encountered that problem, but quite rarely. The main problem on the Nitrome Wiki is Wikia's Datacenter going down. You are prevented from saving any edits, or worse, any pages you go to lead you to a blank screen. I can't remember the last time I got that message. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 02:04, October 15, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Enemies & Jack Frost[]

Those enemies are not enemies but hazards. They belong on the List of Hazards in Mega Mash page, under a section called Spike Heads.

About Jack Frost, the only thing I can see wrong with the page is that the levels section needs to be rewritten, as the enemies are incorrectly named and parts of the level section are written incorrectly. There are a few small things on the article I'll clean up. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 22:06, October 15, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Snowdrift :([]

The last time I've played Snow Drift nothing like that has happened, however, that was, like, 2 years ago. You should Email Nitrome about the problem, they will eventually get along to fixing it. RE:Moving Pictures[]

I do not know how to take moving pictures. How I make .gifs is I take a whole bunch of images, and by using a setting in Gimp2, the program puts all the selected images into one image, and goes through them. The program also allows you to set the time at which it goes through the image. There is probably a free program out there you can use to make .gifs. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 21:09, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

RE:I hate my internetEdit[]

Something like that has happened before to me, I just can't remember how. I don't know what could be the problem, its probably your internet. I also don't know how I can help, as that version of the Wikia text editor I can't access. Whenever I edit, I'm brought to a white page which shows the code for everything.

What I think may be causing the problem is the large amount of content on pages. That is what is probably slowing down you internet. What you should probably do is edit a section instead of the entire page. That should probably make things run smoother, or not as slow. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 00:10, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

Do you try to edit pages in Visual, or Source mode? If you edit in source, the pictures will be text (for the code) and you can simply move the text to where you want the picture to be. Random-StoryKeeper 00:13, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

Creating Articles Edit[]

Hi! If you want to help create pages for newly released games, I suggest you click on the red links in Template:Stumped rather than adding your own pages. By creating titles that are the same as a red link, you can help make the page appear on the template. I think for pickups, they are all going on one page, since there won't be too much to say about them. I have redirected Pumpkins (Stumped) to the pickups page. Just add on to the pickups page if you want to add more to it. ;) Random-StoryKeeper 23:55, October 27, 2011 (UTC)

If you can expand it to another paragraph, maybe. The concern with the page is that it's too short, and short articles are best grouped with others of similar category, even there are only two that fit. (I mean the pickups here.) Random-StoryKeeper 23:59, October 27, 2011 (UTC)

Hm. Looking at the template, it seems as though NOBODY intended for it to go on one page. It's okay if there's a long page for the key and then one for the pumpkin. And I'm pretty sure they both won't be that long, anyway. Random-StoryKeeper 00:08, October 28, 2011 (UTC)

Toxic IIEdit[]

The levels need to be rewritten, as some have incorrect sentence structure and have the word "you" in it. The enemies section has to be rewritten so that the name of the enemies are correct, and a bit more content added to the individual enemy sections. Some images added would be helpful. The boss section needs to be rewritten, and a link to the boss. The hazards section, platforms section, pick ups section, and bombs section have sections which need rewriting and/or more content added to them, and possibly have the section name changed to match the name of the object.

ArticlesEdit[]

I noticed yesterday how you created articles on enemies and stuff from Stumped. When I made the template, I meant for all the enemies, hazards, pick ups, and interactive objects to go in list, and did this becuase those objects would be to small if each object was a separate page. For example, the Eyeballs, Hands, and other enemies, it would be better to have them as part of a list as they would be small on there own. That was why. Also, Random Story-Keeper did not delete your page, but redirected it. Also, I'm going to redirect the pages to the lists now. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 22:11, October 28, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Games on pagesEdit[]

You just get a whole lot of text if you you try to place the code on a page. The code was designed so that Blog owners or Web Designers could place the code in the body code of there site, so that the game would load in a place. I'm not sure how he did it though. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 12:29, October 29, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Games on pageEdit[]

The reason the code didn't work is becuase the code was made to be placed in a part of a blog. It will work if placed in the MediaWiki.js, but where to place it I don't know. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 15:02, October 29, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Toxic 2 levelsEdit[]

Well......do you plan to add more to the walkthroughs? Because when you rewrote the page, you removed all of the walkthrough. Really, there isn't any walkthrough any more. If you plan to add more to the Walkthrough, that would be great. If you want you don;t have to add the walkthrough, and eventually I'll find the page and add back the walkthrough, only proofread. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 22:23, October 29, 2011 (UTC)

RE:RE:RE:Toxic 2 levelsEdit[]

Although most articles don't have walkthroughs, they should. Articles that have walkthroughs should not have there walkthroughs removed. Anyway, I'll add them rewritten later. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 00:23, October 30, 2011 (UTC)

RE: Badge editing Edit[]

About adding a picture to a badge: only admins are able to customize badges. So if you have a picture in mind, post it and then an admin will help add it to the Curator badge. Congratulations! Random-StoryKeeper 04:45, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

Okay. As a suggestion, do you think you could resize the picture so it is more of a square? This ensures that more of the picture will be kept on the badge. Random-StoryKeeper 00:48, November 2, 2011 (UTC)
Hmm...I tried adding your picture to the badge, and all I got was the rainbow part and not the caterpillar. It still needs to be smaller, unless you were only going for the rainbows. Random-StoryKeeper 01:04, November 2, 2011 (UTC)
Your 250 px capture is still too big. I'd go for a really small size if I were you. The badge customization is really inconvenient, so I try not to mess with it anymore. Random-StoryKeeper 01:11, November 2, 2011 (UTC)

RE: .gif Edit[]

[3]ScreenshotAdded by Random-storykeeperThere are only two ways I know of how to take .gifs so far. One method is taking a number of pictures (with the frames), then putting them together to make a smooth motion. Some image editing programs, like PhotoShop, let you make moving pictures. If not, you can also upload your images to Iaza.com and click "Create Frame Animation" to put them together.

Another way is to use screen capture. I created one on Screencast-o-matic of Magneboy defeating a sleeping monster. You can use this to capture some moving shots of games, but the smallest size of screen you can capture is still pretty large and they leave a watermark on all your screen captures.

These are the only two methods I know of making .gifs so far. They only work if they're full sized, and if they're thumbnails, people have to click on them in order to see the animation. On another note, please make sure you sign your posts next time you leave a message. =) Random-StoryKeeper 01:00, November 2, 2011 (UTC)

Curator Edit[]

I tried putting the photo on, but it was still too large. Finally, I resized it myself and the whole picture fit in to the badge. If you wanted the caterpillar to be a part of the capture, though, you should consider having it be in the center (or as close to the center) of the image. This is the part that is captured in the badge. For now, your image capture will remain as the new curator badge, unless you can center the caterpillar image. (I mean more ground to balance the upper background part. Random-StoryKeeper 07:20, November 3, 2011 (UTC)

RE:King Moo NinjaEdit[]

The Trans-Mech_Samurai is not the Moo King, as when he falls through the special wall to the Ninja game, he disappears completely. And I guess he does look a bit like the Moo King, but since the Moo King is not seen transforming into him, the Samurai is not the Moo King. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 22:40, November 11, 2011 (UTC)

TALK – 23:51, November 11, 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure how to do that. I did import a template a while ago called Template:User talk bubble which allows a speech bubble to be put on user talk pages, like this. Maybe if a template was created like this it could work. I'll test it out and see.
Here. I tried using the talk template bubble on my personal sandbox. I managed to get a speech bubble working but somehow the lines on the left side got erased. Bluboy is also not aligned with the talk arrow. Making templates is nowhere near my expertise, though. Random-StoryKeeper 00:17, November 12, 2011 (UTC)

Sure. just place this on the Template:Revise page on the Lego Star Wars wiki when you create the template (it won't be included when you place the template on a page):

The lonely adventures of a string of code that no-one understood Edit[]

Hey there. I come with good news - I have created a category called Category:Article needs image. It will (or should) contain EVERY SINGLE article that does not have an image in its Infobox template (example of an infobox: Template:Character). Cool, eh? It will help the people here find these pages quickly. But, I haven't got it fully working yet, and you can help me. If you see an infobox template (that doesn't already have this, so check), at the very bottom, but before the documentation (the explanation of the template's uses; usually enclosed in tags) paste in

as well as rename the template to "Infobox <template name>" as opposed to just "<template name>", so in the case of Template:Character you should call it "Template:Infobox Character". This will help navigating around infoboxes for future use. If you do not like this idea, please tell me at my talk page; also, you don't have to help me, it's only if you want to. Note: I pasted this message on other users' talk pages, so don't be surprised if you see it elsewhere. [34]Bluefire2 Make your own tab![35] 15:04, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

RE:AdminEdit[]

So you want to be an admin, eh? Well, you do fulfill the rules. However, one thing I should point out (please don't take this as something negative, I'm trying to help you) is that you upload a picture of something, and place it on an article that already have the exact same image. Also, you should be able to add text to a thumbnail. For example:

[40]This is a boosterAdded by NOBODYtext text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text

instead of:

[41]Added by NOBODYtext text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text

These are just some stuff you should work on. You can apply for adminship when the adminship page is open. Please don't feel sad. Also, I have not said you have failed your adminship. You can apply to be an admin when the page is out, which will likely be soon. Also, I didn't answer you other posts becuase I was fiddling around with Template:Game, the center tags show up.

To give images a transparent background, you have too, um, its hard to explain, I'll upload a Youtube video of it, soon. --I'm Nobody (we mean the User) Creator of Nitrome Universe 22:04, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

No, that was not me. If you examine Ultra625's talk page history, you will notice that no one has edited the page under my username, "Random-storykeeper". If you go further to compare revisions, you will also clearly see that Ultra625 has written all this him/herself. I don't know what's gotten into the user, well, actually I might. A lot of the user's edits were adding trivial content, which was removed because it was not appropriate for the Wiki. All I know is that evidence should not clearly point towards me writing mean comments on the user's talkpage. -- R S K --> (DANG!) 06:33, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

How long RFAs last + JPG vs. PNG[]

I think I mentioned this to you when you commented on my blog post about the release of the request for adminship page. Right now, because of the small amount of users on this Wiki, the request process will last for two weeks (fourteen days) at least. Then a bureaucrat (NOBODY) will decide if you succeed or not. Right now you'll be waiting another five more days until the verdict can be decided.

And about the jpg: it would be much preferrable if you uploaded pictures in the png format, however, if you can't, it's not that big of a deal, as long as people can tell what the picture is. So yes, upload pictures in the png format rather than jpg.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 02:23, December 20, 2011 (UTC)

Replacing images again, I see?[]

Is it all right if I revert the image used on Space Squids (Rockitty) to the old one? It's just that the new one you replaced it with is a JPG image, and it's rather blurry. I'd like to keep it to the first revision unless you can find a better (preferrably PNG) shot.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 18:56, December 20, 2011 (UTC)

Paint.NET and GIMP are available for legal free download on the internet and are open source. GIMP is second only to Adobe Photoshop, however it is buggy on my PC so I use Paint.NET. I have never seen a paint editor that doesn't let you save images in the .png format, and if one does, it must be quite crap overall. -Bluefire2 (talk) 10:00, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

If you can't save the images in .png, and they give you the option to save them in .gif, save them in .gif. Gif single frame images are exactly the same as .pngs. Your image will not be made a .gif when you save it as .gif.

Ooh ouch[]

I know you feel that your job as admin is to help users create better articles, but I think you'll scare 'em all off if you tell them to stop. NTPYTO might be creating these stubs so he can come back to them and expand at a later time. Sure, this means he creates more stubs in the process, but they let other users know what kinds of articles we accept at Nitrome Wiki and what we don't. Him creating stubs is a lot better than not editing at all (and it's not even spamming). I know I used to delete certain article stubs, but now I know better to just leave them be. So I would kindly ask you to encourage users, not flatout tell them to stop editing here. :P  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 15:02, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

Teehee[]

I guess when all else fails, tell them "I'm not saying this because I'm mad at you..." Or just remember to omit strong words like "stop" and "bad".

For your signature question, it sounds like you want to use tooltips. Or do you mean when the user hovers over your signature, the text will be displayed up front?  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 15:21, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Untitled Flying Enemies[]

The Classic Skins, when it was made, only the Balloon and the Sleepwalkers were from games. The other characters weren't from any game. Some time later, Nitrome included them in games, but they were not thinked to be originally from this game.
Those characters only appeear in the Skin, I'm totally sure. =) Fault FauSign.png Liner 15:27, March 26, 2012 (UTC)

Making big text[]

If you ever want to see how someone does something in terms of code, you can always click "edit" or "view source" and view in source mode if possible to see what the tags are. To make big text, however, the code I use is <span style="font-size:40px">Your text</span>. I used 40 as an example; you can put any number you'd like. For the above code, you would get this result:

RE:Deadlocked[]

I personally do not like Deadlocked, as you can't play Clank, the weapon select screen is terrible, and you really are restricted to where you can go. I found the final boss very easy, as you just jumped over the white lines. I've completed all the Arena stuff, and every single mission in the game. I found the past three games more funner. You own any other R&C games? --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 18:13, March 27, 2012 (UTC)

File:Spiking Green Enzyme.PNG[]

I think the image is deformed. Could you fix it? Fault FauSign.png Liner 18:13, March 27, 2012 (UTC)

No problem[]

Here's a more reliable code than <center></center> tags:

<p style="text-align:center;">Centered text</p> will make

Centered text

.

As for colouring text, <span></span> tags become useful for this. <span style="color:purple">Your coloured text</span>, for example, makes: Your coloured text.

Of course you can replace purple with any colour or HEX code you'd like. To put this in interwiki links, the format would be [[Link to page|<span style="color:random colour">Texty</span>]]. So [[Freeze Flames|<span style="color:babyblue">Watch out, they're cold!</span>]] will give you: Watch out, they're cold!.

Note that any tags you use with these must be closed if you choose to use them. Otherwise they, especially the span tags, will leak into the followup text below and the editor might add these tags to ALL lines, which is a pain to clean up. So save yourself some grief, make sure you close tags, and using the preview button before saving usually helps. :P  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 03:28, March 28, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Young[]

Yup, I was very young. I wrote horribly, acted pretty stupid and moronic (which is quite noticeable if you go waaaaaaayyyyyy back into the history of some old articles). It was a good thing I joined when I joined, as I joined at the time when the helpful things we have now didn't exist. However, that was somewhat good as I find placing images in pages manually is much faster than using the photo button is visual mode (which, I first used on Sunday. Prior to Sunday, I had never used the photo thing in my life).

Also, when viewing the activity on the wiki, do you use Wiki Activity or Recent Changes? Because I just found out recently everyone here uses Wiki Activity, which itself is horrible as Wiki Activity omits so much stuff that Recent Changes doesn't omit. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 02:02, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

Let me describe the functions of the "circled things", from top left to bottom right:
  1. If there is more than one edit done to a page in rapid succession, all of those edits are under the same subheading. Click the arrows to expand that to view each individual edit.
  2. This shows just how many edits are under the subheading.
  3. This shows who made those edits. "Axiy 2x" means Axiy made 2 edits.
  4. This is the keyletter column. "N" means a new page has been created, "m" stands for minor edit, and "b" is a bot edit.
  5. Pretty obvious - the time at which the edit was made. If it's referring to a group of edits under the same subheading, as in #1, the time shows when the last of those edits was made.
  6. This shows how many bytes were added or removed from the page by the edit. A green number means the editor added something, while a red number means he or she removed stuff.
  7. Same as above; an example of a red number (data removed).
  8. Same as #6; a bold number signifies a large edit (more than 500 (I think) bytes added/removed).
  9. Shows the edit summary. If there isn't one, it shows some of the content that was added/removed. In this case shows my rather fought-over comment.
-Bluefire2 (talk) 17:59, June 20, 2012 (UTC)
Also, please be honest here - do you actually know what this code does? -Bluefire2 (talk) 18:01, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

Tense[]

Hello Emitewiki2! I've seen the articles you have been writing, and they're good, however, I've noticed that the tense of the articles (a tense can be past, present, or future. Example: "I was eating" is past tense, "I am going to eat" is future tense) you are writing are in past tense. For example, the Advertised Games article you wrote, before I corrected it, was written in past tense.

It made it sound that it had been removed, due to the tense. Here is an example of a sentence in past tense and how it can be transformed into present tense: (words changes are in bold):

Past tense: Adverstised Games was a feature Nitrome added to their website on Jun 19, 2012.

Present tense: Adverstised Games is a feature Nitrome added to their website on Jun 19, 2012.

Past tense: It featured games from other advertisers, and when clicked on, would link the player to the website where the game was from.

Present tense: It features games from other advertisers, and when clicked on, will link the player to the website where the game is from.

Past tense: The advertised games were found when the player played a game on the Nitrome website.

Present tense: The advertised games can be found when the player plays a game on the Nitrome website.

Hope this helps!--Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 21:37, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

I don't think this is the first time you've used the fan fiction wiki to host unrelated images. I will emphasise again on the fact that the fan fiction wiki is not a personal image host. You will be given a grace period of 24 hours to replace the link before it is deleted. Removal and deletion[]

Hi Emitewiki! I see you've recently beaten flipside, which is quote a feat, as I find Flipside to be rather chaotic and hard. I removed your image mainly because it looked very different from the image of the racer in the ending, at least, I found it looked very different.

Although you only removed the medal, removing the medal forces you to place in pixels where the medal was, and, well, the image kind of looked better with the medal as the racer's stomach looked kind of... empty... without the medal. That was the reason for the removal of the image.

But I guess you could complain this file and this file should be removed from there respective pages they are on, as I had to alter the image. I had to alter both images as, Blue's shattered remains in the first image had splattered in front of the orange enzyme, and it would look bad to have that in the picture, so I removed it.

For the tree image, I had to add a whole lot of extra pixel as something was blocking up the tree (my additions are quite noticeable). Now you are probably wondering why I deleted you small, but 4,500 byte page. This was because of two reasons:

  1. It is nowhere named in the game prison, and the location's names likely stems from my hypothesis of why the racers have to win their freedom.
The Prison article is summed up almost completely on the Racing Empire article.

Those are the two reasons the article was deleted. Also, placing the definition of prison in the trivia section is not really trivia.

Also, I think Wikia's RTS malfunctioned, as when you placed "A building for the confinement of persons held while awaiting trial, persons sentenced after conviction, etc." was interpreted by wikia as:

I'm assuming that's not what you placed. Also, one thing I suggest is that if you want to create an article that is not listed on an article, you should ask me first, as quote often when a page is created that does not correspond to a template, it is quote often deleted, as it likely is about something that already has its own article or about something that doesn't need an article. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 01:37, June 27, 2012 (UTC)

Emite, why did you include a spoiler in your edit summary, you just...*ouch* (I've yet to try it.) SQhi(talk) 16:51, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

Aggressive pounding[]

First of all, now might be a good idea to archive this... 40,887 bytes talk page.

Secondly, I took a look at the spike crusher block page, and before looking at the edit summary, I had a feeling you wrote it. Why? It was simply by the way you organized the page in source mode. By the way, the Template: prefix isn't necessary when inserting a template on pages, so save yourself a few valuable seconds and just type {{Template name}} instead of {{Template:Template name}} when inserting templates. Both do the exact same thing, except one takes longer to write. And why would you want to waste that time instead of spending it doing more edits? :/  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 19:12, June 30, 2012 (UTC)

Recent changes[]

If you want easy tabs on recent changes, you could have added it as a link on your toolbar. The toolbar...you know where that is, right? The bar at the bottom of this and all other Wiki pages that probably has "Follow" or "Following" as the first link on the left. If you click "Customize" on the toolbar, you can change what links you want on the toolbar. I added "Recent changes" to mine, providing an easily accessible link that I click on instead of Wiki Activity. Not saying that adding it to the top navigation is a bad idea, but it might start to cram up the space if we need to add any more links.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 16:15, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

Duplicate image alert![]

Your uploaded image of File:Stumped ending.png is a duplicate of an image already on the Stumped page. Well, okay, the scores are different, but nonetheless, they're the same. Next time, it would probably be a good idea to check the game page first to see if an image has already been uploaded before uploading it.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 23:32, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

Blooper's a keeper[]

Yeah, no problem. Renaming the existing file probably would have been a better choice, but you did what you did already, so just keep it in mind for next time.

Let me also take this time to tell you that images for use on the mainspace are allowed. That means they don't necessarily have to be Nitrome related, although since this is Nitrome Wiki, the vast majority of our images will happen to be Nitrome related.

You probably know what I'm talking about, and if you guessed File:Blooper.png, then you are right. What isn't allowed on the Wiki are personal images. If Tigerlegs uploaded the image and only put it on his userpage, then it would be considered personal and can be rightfully deleted. However, this picture was uploaded for use on the Cultural references page, to show comparison between the squid from Twang and the Mario reference squid. You'll also note that this is similar to File:Mario Blooper.jpg in the sense that Mario isn't Nitrome related. There was also an image of the blooper squid on the page, if I recall correctly. Tigerlegs just uploaded a better version of it.

To conclude this message, despite File:Blooper.png being not directly Nitrome related, it was uploaded for the benefit of a mainspace page. For that reason, I think it should be undeleted.

(I used to use visual mode all the time for talk pages. You know why I switched to source mode? There's something in the system that causes the text typing cursor to spontaneously jump back to the very beginning of the editor, causing me to write very mixed up messages if I wasn't careful. Yet I haven't faced any of these problems in source mode.)  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 05:46, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

Actually...[]

When you said, "Why doesn't anyone else do some of the work? I have to take care of all these pages," that wasn't actually true. Most of the work was done the day and the day after it came out, and was done by (I'm not saying others didn't help out too, but these did the most) RSK, Takeshi64, and I. And since then, I created all other redlinks for that game, which were then edited by others in turn. So, I personally feel that your comment was out of place. But, please take no offense at this message, I simply wanted to let you know that others did work on the pages too.RT_Larry_Sleeping.png NTPYTO GbSpR4 Blue.png  22:38, July 25, 2012 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed that you replaced my old photo for Hot Air 2's preview. That's fine the one you uploaded is better. Ok, I undid it since the underwater worm deserves a month at least of being featured. I forgive you for that, but, why did you featured the Teeny Hero instead of the next nomination, that has more Supports than opposes? And, at least, the Uncle Rico? I think you did it because you wanted to feature your own article, but the one that updates FeaturedArticle don't have to select a random nomination and pick it, only add the next one in the queue if it has more supporting than opposing. Yes, I know you could have done it because we're taking about if the bosses should be featured, but, you could include Uncle Rico. Ok, it doesn't matter, but please next time don't do it (to add your own character, I don't mean the other mistake). I hope you understand it. :) Fault FauSign.png Liner  09:20, September 22, 2012 (UTC)

Related Videos[]

Hello Emitewiki2! Did you email/contact wikia that you wanted to have the Related Videos module to be enabled on the Nitrome Wiki? If so (if you didn't, ignore everything in the spoiler box),

Penguin 1

This navigational box contains a spoiler. Click [show] to open the box.

I would advise you that you must talk this over with the community. This feature easily allows anyone to put up any video they want, and not all videos are appropriate.

Although the Nitrome Wiki hasn't made any enemies, if the wiki gets any bigger, we are bound to anger someone, and they will likely retaliate with trying to upload obscene videos or images, and will probably use the video module to put up an obscene video.

They will know that doing this will cause some readers to not come back, potentially forever, as the memory of seeing an obscene video on the Nitrome Wiki will likely stick in their heads.

If, however, you didn't do this, ignore the content in the spoiler box. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 20:40, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

Obscene videos come up on YouTube all the time, but that doesn't cause the majority of users to leave there. Quite frankly, it would be immature to leave a Wiki just because of an angry user uploading obscene videos. What would a Wiki become if there weren't users who could stand their ground?  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 23:34, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

Yep[]

Of course! But sadly, it's the version with the sticky controls. I'll have to take it up on Neutronized.com instead. It's too bad they didn't feature one of their Hallowe'en games, though - Hallowe'en's much closer than winter right now and Neutronized makes pretty good Hallowe'en games.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 23:09, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, what do you mean?[]

It's a video walkthrough of Final Ninja Zero level 0. The file name must have cut off the 0 when the video was embedded on the Wiki via the video embed tool. Even though failing level 0 is near impossible, having video walkthroughs for all levels of the game shows the Wiki's ability to be resourceful. Viewers of the page might be reading it for an overview of the game and not necessarily how to pass the level, if that is what you mean.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 05:52, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

It's the only good video walkthrough of level 0 that I could find. I usually don't care about irrelevant music playing during the walkthrough, as anyone can easily mute it within the video module.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 15:17, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
Of course I would favour the walkthrough with in-game music audio over one with today's mainstream music playing if both walkthroughs are the same quality. Likewise, I suppose I could have made it myself, but it takes more time than finding and embedding what another YouTube uploader worked so hard to record and upload. Even if there is audio, I don't normally fuss over it, because in my opinion, audio is fine on videos because there is an option to mute it. If there was no option, it probably wouldn't be allowed. Of course, if there was more than one video of decent quality and one had "My Freeze Ray" playing and the other was silent, then I would go with the silent one. I selected that clip because, at that moment, it was of high quality.
If there are videos in the future of later levels that I haven't passed yet, and the only ones out there have music in them, I would use them. It should be allowed, but treated like JPEG files - it would be more preferred to not have pop music, but if that is what is there, then it is there. Perhaps we can look into making a template that will manage videos with this sort of audio - not everyone can reach the last level of a game they've not completed yet so easily.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 23:10, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

Citations[]

I wouldn't often message users to provide citations, but I thought I should ask this time. On the Dark things (organization) article, you wrote down two statements which I believe are false: the flaming fire monster being the Dark Thing's leader, and the Angels taking over the dark thing's organization.

The problems with the first statement is the flaming fire monster is never said to have any leadership over the dark things. In fact, King Cloud would be a better candidate for a leader, as he wears a crown and seems to be quite powerful.

And for the second statement, it is never said that the angels take over the organization. There's a good reason behind it - why? Why would you want to take over an organization you are trying to abolish? It doesn't make much sense, other than to immediately shut it down as soon as you take over.

Plus, you would have to rename the organization, and change what you do in it. It is because of this that that I think those sections should be removed. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 20:06, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

Seriously?[]

When you said you would upload a version you made yourself, I was expecting it to be like the former video, only without the song playing in the background.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 23:22, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

No, I meant a much shorter introduction slide (even omitting it is fine; there is an Introduction section on the article anyways) and the "seriously" was for the fact that you lost two bars of health in level 0, which is near death.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 00:10, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

As this project is big, I'm trying to get a lot of users to come and help. Well, just thought I'd let you know, just in case you wanted to join. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 19:58, October 27, 2012 (UTC)

RE:I need help![]

I saw what happened. I'm a bit confused on what happened also, so I don't really know how to explain what happened. What you should do is always leave a redirect behind, and only delete it if it isn't being used.

I've restored the page. Also, if you plan on transforming a redirect into a disambiguation, no need to delete the page. Just go and try to create it, and when it says it already exists click on it. If it doesn't redirect you, click "edit" to build the page. If you are redirected, click the purple link after the "redirect from" words.

Thanks for helping with the project! I'm happy everyone is helping, as my two previous projects had barely anyone helping. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 21:29, November 2, 2012 (UTC)

Hi Emite! I wrote the objectives for changing articles to plural, using pronouns, and changing numbers under ten. I'm glad you thought they were clear! :D I worked hard to try to make them understandable, so your recognition is appreciated greatly. Anyway, see ya! -- Ayernam (talk) 22:50, November 2, 2012 (UTC)

Test Subject Blue article[]

Hi Emitewiki. While scanning the recent changes, I noticed how you changed the template Test Subject Blue, but left a red linked article titled Button Activated Platforms. I wasn't sure whether to remove this link or not, as I'm not sure if you are creating an article about it.

Is it okay for me to re-link that article to the button activated platform section of Switch button (Test Subject Blue)? Also, I thought I should tell you that {{Disambig}} goes at the bottom of a disambiguation, not the top. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 16:14, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

And about capitalization of sections, first letter is capitalized, everything else is lowercase. Section names follow the same rule for capitalization as all article do. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 16:16, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

Disambigs[]

Hi Emitewiki! I've modified Template:Disambig so that it doesn't have "following" in it. Now, the template should be placed at the bottom of pages. If you can think of anything to put in the first sentence of the template that alludes to it having to be placed at the bottom of a page, you can add it, as I can't seem to think of any. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 23:22, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Santi-Zapo[]

I think there's something wrong with your computer[]

Hi Emitewiki! I've noticed how there may be something wrong with your computer, as this edit (made by you only a few minutes ago) and your edit on the WIP rules had removed necessary text and replaced them with a ?. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 16:16, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

There's nothing wrong with your computer![]

At least, I am pretty sure the glitch that has been happening (the whole question mark thing) has nothing to do with your computer. Instead, it is a whole seperate bug with Wikia! It only occurs in visual mode, so I suppose you have been editing with that mode. As Nobody has informed me, source mode provides much more opportunities in coding and in formatting pages, plus it does not contain any of the bugs that are apparent in visual mode, such as the bug that smashes together words and links, and the question mark one. I have made the transition to source mode recently, and have found it much more efficient. Do you use source mode? I am not sure if this bug appears there, but I am pretty sure it doesn't. You don't have to switch to source, but it really does make editing much more efficient. It's okay if you don't - I edited the wiki for months without even knowing there was a such thing as source mode before I created an account!

Anyway, back to the glitch. It occurs when you place two spaces next to each other in visual mode, such as when you begin sentence. In source mode, the two spaces you type are automatically turned into one space when you publish your edit. However, in visual mode, one of the spaces is kept, while the other is randomly transformed into a question mark. I have no idea what causes this glitch, but the ultimate solution is to either make the transition to source, or just don't use double spaces. I will notify NOBODY of this, and hopefully it will be fixed. In the meantime, don't worry about your computer being malfunctional- this happened on my computer too, and I'm pretty sure it's a glitch.

I discovered this glitch when commenting on AC4E's blog post, and experimented with it in the sandbox. To see a demonstration of the glitch, you can click the link to the sandbox. Have a good day! -- 25px-Auto_peg.png Ayernam Salve amicus! Quid agis? 03:07, November 24, 2012 (UTC)

Public Announcement: New Account Requirement on Nitrome Wiki[]

preliminary discussion: http://nitrome.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog_comment:SQhi/What%3F!%3F_Anonymous_editing_is_now_blocked_on_Nitrome_Wiki/@comment-SQhi-20130703040630

Hello people, this is SQhi. As we know at the start of July anonymous editing was blocked on Nitrome Wiki network. The purpose of this discussion is to bring the active and prominent users together to inform our readers and followers of this drastic change.

I am sending this message to NOBODY, Santi, Ayernam, Emite, Takeshi and NTPYTO. If you feel that anyone else should be brought into the discussion, please let me know (talk page).

The first three steps I am proposing are as follows.

1. Through Wikinews. I suggest this entry.

  • 21 July - It is now necessary to have a Nitrome Wiki account to edit and comment on Nitrome Wiki and its sister wikis. This is due to changes in US law which does not allow our website to track IP addresses of children. If you would like to gain access to editing, commenting and more, please sign up for an account. You do need to be thirteen or older. official press release

2. Through banner on our Main Page (and/or through SiteNotice)

Dear readers, you now need to sign up for a Wikia account to edit and comment on Nitrome Wiki and its sister wikis. Changes to US law in which our website is hosted prevents us from tracking anonymous contributions from children using IP addresses. IP addresses can be used to approximate the location of internet access of children. official press release

3. The official press release through a blog entry.

Nitrome Wiki congratulates Nitrome on their official launch of Nitrome Profiles.

  • Since 1 July 2013, it is now necessary for all editors and blog commenters on Nitrome Wiki and its sister wikis(Fan Fiction Wiki and Pixel Love Wiki) to have a valid Wikia account.
  • This is because of changes in US legislation which prohibits US-hosted websites from collecting certain information from children including IP addresses. Nitrome Wiki is hosted on US servers.
  • Unfortunately, IP addresses is the means through which our software MediaWiki tracks anonymous contributions, hence, anonymous contributions are disabled.

Revision to COPPA
A recent revision to Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) (http://www.ftc.gov/os/fedreg/2013/01/130117coppa.pdf) which came into effect 1 July 2013 does not allows US-based websites from collection of geolocation information from children, such as Internet Protocol addresses (IP). Nitrome Wiki is hosted on a US server and hence has to comply with US laws.

MediaWiki's use of IP
MediaWiki tracks all anonymous contributions through the IP which they are posted from. IP is the internet addresses of your gateway to the Internet. This is an important tool for us as it helps us better identify users, and provides us the means to tackle disruptive acts such spamming, vandalism and uncivil behaviour.

IP of registered users are also recorded, though as such users can be easily identified by their username, this IP information is strictly archived. This information will only be accessed by the webmaster only for the investigation of the most severe of disciplinary offences such as sockpuppetry or vote-rigging, which can be carried out through the abuse of multiple accounts.

Risk of tracking through IP
IP is also a form of geolocation information. Through tools such as whatismyIP, an individual can find out the geographical location of a child's internet access point, and hence approximate the location of the child in the world. The safety of the child can be further jeopardised if the child reveals personal information.

Blocking of anonymous editing
If we were to allow collection of IP information, our webmaster would have to receive parental consent, which would be impractical to do so. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to all, especially to our young readers who are most affected.

Nitrome Wiki recommends that contributors sign up for an account as long as they are no longer children
Since there are no restrictions prohibiting the collection of IP from anyone aged 13 and above, anyone above the age of 13 can sign up for an account for free. You only need an email address and your birthday (to verify your age). Your generous contributions will be fully credited to you on the edit history of each page, ascribed to your member-name. You will also gain access to all the privileges of a member, such as the chatroom, your own profile and talk page, ability to create blogs and upload photos and more.

Please continue the discussion on my talk page. Thank you for your time. SQhi(talk)Wiki Planner

Hi people, thank you for participating in this discussion. Since there is strong support for the wikinews option thus far, I'll get it ready to put it into effect. Before that though, I do need your consent for the official "press release". Thank you. Also, let's do decide together on what other channels to communicate this to our readers and anonymous contributors. Regarding: The Secret of the GIFS[]

Well, it's actually a combination of many methods.

First, there's a website called http://nitromespritersresources.weebly.com/ where you can download some pre-extracted images and sounds of some of the Nitrome games.

But if the game isn't there, then I use the Creating startup gifs tutorial.

Then to make them transparent, I use the How to make Transparent Images/Gimp2: Method 2 tutorial

But, if they are really just impossible to attain through Bandicam, then I would use the to extract sprites from any Flash game tutorial

Well, that's all I know. Hope I helped you somehow.

Hi Emitewiki! Your doing a great job since your returned, fixing up those Hot Air article. RE:RE:Star Tokens[]

Glad to see your still working on it. I always find you tend to create article on rather interesting stuff about Nitrome unconnected to the games. I find that articles like that are more interesting to read than regular articles, as they tend to be about interesting stuff people rarely ever write about.

Thanks for putting aside time to edit! Also, the Nitrome Wiki allows for people to create Top 10 Lists. Yes, they are not about Nitrome, however, Top 10 Lists are created in their own namespace (Top 10 List:<name>) that doesn't intrude into any other namespace that is used for factual content.

Also, Top 10 Lists are not created in the mainspace (mainspace being regular Nitrome Wiki articles, such as those accessible through Special:Random). If you are confused about any of this, feel free to leave me a message. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 16:05, October 25, 2013 (UTC)

I did this because if he comes back and wants to do some admin task, he'll have to ask me to admin him, and I'll admin him, but then he probably can't do what he wanted now because he had to do something else. Giving him adminship now allows him to do whatever he wants to do that requires adminship. Also, waiting for him to come back just makes him wait longer to do adminship-requiring edits. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 01:24, December 30, 2013 (UTC)

Lol okay[]

Sure, but that probably won't happen for a while. (Manual of Style is for proper formatting of mainspace pages. You don't have to outline a specific format for forums. :D) I was actually in the midst of writing a policy page for images, which I put on Nitrome Pixel Love Wiki, though I probably won't be finishing that for a while. If there's something specific you want to see on this page you want written, just let me know. Or you could look at some other wiki's image policy pages just to get an idea of how it should be presented.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 19:35, December 30, 2013 (UTC)

Testing[]

Hello! I noticed how you added some content to another user's userpage, with the intent of testing something. Unfortunately, I would like to point out that actions such as these should not be done on other user's user pages. If you want to test something, please test it in the Sandbox, not on regular pages.

Now, I know you may have done this because you saw Random Story Keeper test things on mainspace articles, but even though Random Story Keeper did this, testing something should not be done on mainspace articles, or even another user's user page (with the exception of your own). Now, I know the account is owned by Tiny Castle Guy, and he likely wouldn't mind, however, I'm just saying that if you want to test something, it should be done on a page for testing (or a page you own) instead of public pages or pages owned by other users, as it is against the rules to edit other people's pages.

However, if you got authorization by Tiny Castle Guy, that is different. Just pointing something out. Also, what did you intend to do with the "No icon" logos? --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 22:12, January 31, 2014 (UTC)

When did I test something on a mainspace page - oh wait, it might have been with infoboxes or something. My bad, I'll just copy a mainspace onto the sandbox next time.
I think it might be better to just go with a simpler style of userpage - one that doesn't overwhelm users with the "add your own icon to your userpage" sort of gesture. Sharing the game names is enough. If they want to add pictures, they will do it on their own.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 01:45, February 1, 2014 (UTC)

RE:Userpage[]

I wasn't offended, I just messaged you because I thought I should inform you about testing stuff on other people's user pages. If you want, you can do further testing in the sandbox. You can remove everything there when you test, if you want. Once people have tested something there and are done with it, they don't care if it is removed. Making userpages more easy to use and less confusing would likely get people to spend more time on the Nitrome Wiki, which would help a lot. So if you are still interested, you can experiment with improving the user page template. --Talk to NOBODY  Eskimo 1 21:51, February 1, 2014 (UTC)

RE:Angry[]

Well, I become a bit angry because it seemed unfair that some users who participated some months before cannt argue now because they are inactive or left. Anyway, if you're just trying to reach a consensus before closing them, I'm OK with that. Goodbye! Fault FauSign.png Liner  18:07, February 15, 2014 (UTC)

Mr. Large and in charge[]

I haven't gotten around to starting a forums policy page yet, but this might give you an idea of how to better manage wiki discussions. Before bumping a topic that is over a month old, survey the discussion that has taken place and see if a consensus can be reached. If not, archive the discussion, but label it as "unresolved". There's no use trying to start it up again after the course of a month; users and the state of the wiki changes in such a way that what is currently being discussed may not be relevant anymore. Should you perceive the topic as being a current issue that needs to be resolved, re-open it by restating what discussion has taken place and perhaps the current decision the community is leaning towards.

In the case of Forum:Nitrome Wiki Content Licensing (Amendment), no bumping is required. At first, the agreement was unanimous - until it was pointed out that this was a pointless endeavour after all, and for a good reason. NOBODY requested the closure of the topic at this point, and it's obvious at this point that requesting an add-on is futile. Closing the discussion can be done here.

Some discussions may last over a month and if it looks like there are some users who are actively involved in a discussion, allow it to continue running.

Santi is right when he says bumping old topics is bad though. No one wants to be replied to three months later, especially when some discussions resolve themselves without a response (take Talk:Glitches to be a great example of users who completely ignored the timestamps that are clearly written on the page and bumped a 6 month old topic when the issue itself was already resolved). It's more irritating than helpful in many, many cases. Perhaps we do need the archive forum script to enforce this.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 02:14, February 16, 2014 (UTC)

Girl from Ditto[]

Just informing you that I'm adding some info on one of your WIP pages, not removing anything or re-arranging, just adding the girl's history.

OH HELLO!?!?!?[]

WHy do you mean I disrespected your WIP!? I'm sure I edidet it, but WIP pages are allowed to be edited with permission!! Didn't you notice the message I left before this one? Yes, you were gone at that point, but you're back now so I suspect that the notification did pop out when you returned.

The chicken[]

Emitewiki2, you are sadly mistaken. It was not a donkey named Jim but in fact a chicken.
Chicken (DE)
See, Jimmy is all so sad. He was feeling so happy till you came and threw his name around like the spartan:
Chicken Hit
Now Jimmy is so so sad.

What even[]

Dude I spent my time writing this up for you and now you're acting like I haven't even written it. What even man, what even are you thinking? Forums are grounds for discussions. We're not going to have a page that simply reiterates what's already described on the threads themselves. Don't do this. Don't make a replica.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 04:59, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

I even sent you a message with a link to the page! Marked it with Template:WIP/Policy and everything. It's not like I can just write a page and automatically make it official, though most of the stuff on there is common sense.
Anyways, that aside, I interpreted your first message to be about formal discussions that took place on the forums. This essentially meant proposals/requests, because it is only there that forums should really be closed. I suppose we could mention conventional discussion, but since those seemed to happen a lot less frequently, I focused solely on proposals (agree/disagree sort of discussion).
Since you started writing it regardless, and have a clear mindset on exactly what you want written on the page, it might be better if you continued writing the policy page you started. Mine was solely for wiki related discussion, which is only a fraction of what you wanted to see a policy page on. Just mark your policy page with Template:WIP/Policy when you're done.  Talk Random-storykeeper Contributions 07:46, June 5, 2014 (UTC)

Your WIP's been removed[]

Hello Eat My Wiki! I just wanted to tell you that I removed your WIP template from Nitrome Wiki:Forum Policy due to it being two months without activity.
